It’s no secret that Come-See-Me’s chairs, staff, and volunteers work long hours to make this festival one of the best in our region. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that Come-See-Me won first place in three categories at this week’s South Carolina Festival & Event Association Excellence Awards!
- The festival was named the 2016 Event of the Year. This is the third consecutive year that Come-See-Me has won this award, which is focused on public relations, communications, and tourism. Independent judges from the marketing and public relations fields select the winner from a field of entries representing the entire state.
- The festival was recognized for having the best event souvenirs/merchandise. Everyone in Rock Hill knows how great the Come-See-Me souvenirs are. Now all of South Carolina does, too! Festivals are allowed to submit one item for judging by independent professionals. (Stay tuned for more information about 2017 souvenirs and this year’s festival logo, which will be unveiled on Thursday, February 23.)
- Alison Mallard was named Volunteer of the Year. This award recognizes a volunteer whose contributions are invaluable to the festival or event where he or she serves. Mallard has supported the festival in various ways throughout the years, including five years as Communications Team Leader and Team Leader for the Come-See-Me Parade.
If you attended, volunteered, or sponsored a Come-See-Me event last year, you also played a part in bringing these awards back home to Rock Hill. We feel fortunate to be recognized by SCFEA this year and look forward to continuing to grow our festival and come together as a community to showcase Rock Hill. The countdown to our 2017 festival has begun—we look forward to celebrating with you April 20-29!
